Hospital Manager, Susan NicholsSusan joined Torrington Animal Hospital in May 2017. She has an associate's degree in Animal Care and Management and a BS in Zoo Technology. She has worked in the veterinary field since 1995 when she joined the Army and went to school as a 91T (veterinary technician). She has worked in both eastern and western veterinary medicine. Susan enjoys spending time with her partner and her animals.

Surgical Technician, Suzanne Tracy, with a feline friendSuzanne began loving and caring for animals at a very early age. Her appreciation for animals led her to earn an Associate of Science Degree in the veterinary technician program at Becker Junior College. She has worked with small, large, and exotic animals. She has worked at the Torrington Animal Hospital for 25 years. Outside of work, she enjoys horseback riding, gardening, and cooking.

Lead Veterinary Technician, Olivia Vitali, with a horseOlivia began working at Torrington Animal Hospital in 2015. She has completed a BS in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut (UCONN) and later went onto obtain an associate's degree from Northwestern Connecticut Community College in 2018. When she's not working, Olivia enjoys spending time with horses.

Veterinary Technician, Tracy Maniccia, with a canine friendTracy graduated from Northwestern Connecticut Community College in 2007 with an associate's degree in Veterinary Technology. Tracy has worked at Torrington Animal Hospital for 10 years. She lives in Torrington with her husband, son, daughter, her cat, Mogwai, and her dog, Charlie, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. She is an avid genealogist.

Veterinary Technician, Melissa Docchio, with a canine friendMelissa started working at Torrington Animal Hospital in March 2017. Melissa earned her BS in Animal Science from the University of Rhode Island and an associate's degree in Veterinary Technology from Northwestern Connecticut Community College. She has a pointer mix, Finn. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys hiking, riding horses, and going to the beach.

Veterinary Technician, Andrew Smith, CVTAndrew joined the Torrington Animal Hospital team 2017. He has a BS in pathobiology from the University of Connecticut (UCONN) and an associate's degree in Veterinary Technology from Northwest Connecticut Community College. He spends his free time playing basketball, listening to good music, running, and enjoying time with his cat, Bumper. Andrew has a natural ability to calm and care for the patients he works with.

Veterinary Technician, Cheryl Kuhn, with a canine friendCheryl has worked at Torrington Animal Hospital for 30 years. In her spare time, she likes to go ATVing and snowmobiling.

 

 

Veterinary technician, Brittany Winn with one of her ratsBrittany has worked at Torrington Animal Hospital since 2012. Brittany graduated from Northwestern Connecticut Community College with an associate's degree in Veterinary Technology in 2014. At home, she has two cats and three rats.

 

Client Care Specialist, Kristen Shewan, with a canine friendKristen started working at Torrington Animal Hospital in December 2017. She has been working in the veterinary field for 29 years. Kristen is married with two adult children. She has two cats and a rescued greyhound. Her hobbies include spending time with her family and hiking with her dog.

Animal Care Attendant, Julie Nelson, with a canine friendJulie is the newest hospital employee having started in August. She enjoys learning all that there is to know about the veterinary field. Outside of work, she spends time with her birds and her grandchildren.



Lead Client Care Specialist, Sherry Weik, with a horse Sherry started working at Torrington Animal Hospital in 2001. She enjoys building relationships with the clients and their pets. She lives with her husband, Todd, and two dogs, Brindie, an Old English Sheepdog, and Sawyer, a Golden Retriever Mix. She also has two cats, Hailey and Zelda, a horse named Phalien, and a pony named Trooper.

Client Care Specialist, Jenna MastonJenna began working at Torrington Animal Hospital in July 2015. Jenna enjoys working at the hospital and acts as a friendly face at the front desk. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her son.



Animal Care Attendant & Veterinary Assistant, Cindy Takeman, with a canine friendCindy joined Torrington Animal Hospital in May 2017. Cindy attended Northwestern Connecticut Community College, majoring in Business Administration. She worked in manufacturing most of her life before deciding to make a career change and pursue her desire to work with animals.

She lives with her husband, son, cats, dog, and six chickens. Her hobbies include bird watching, going on nature walks, taking photos of birds, gardening, and working in her large tropical fish aquarium.

Animal Care Attendant, Dawn Pliel, with a feline friendDawn is part of Torrington Animal Hospital’s Saturday crew. She makes certain everyone is well taken care off. In her spare time, she enjoys wine tasting and car shows.
